Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov has described a recent visit by U.S. envoy Steve Witkoff as pivotal in easing tensions between Moscow and Washington. Lavrov's remarks came following Witkoff's trip to Moscow earlier this month.

According to Kremlin sources, no peace deal was finalized during the talks involving President Vladimir Putin, Witkoff, and Jared Kushner, Donald Trump's son-in-law. Nonetheless, the discussion is seen as a step towards reconciliation.

Additionally, Lavrov confirmed that Russia has formally submitted proposals for collective security guarantees to the United States, marking a potential path forward in diplomatic engagement.
