Heightened security measures at the Bhopal residence of Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan have triggered speculations in political circles. Sources within the BJP, however, assured that the move was a routine precaution following a scheduled security review.
On-site observations noted the erection of a temporary tent and strategic placement of barricades along the bustling Link Road. A greater police presence accompanied these changes, coinciding with Chouhan's brief visit to Bhopal before departing for Delhi on Saturday afternoon.
Rumors suggest possible elevation to BJP president for Chouhan, although confidants dismiss these claims. The Union Home Ministry's periodic security assessment led to heightened measures in both Bhopal and Delhi. While BJP spokesperson Dr. Hitesh Bajpai described the security increase as routine, Congress leader Mukesh Nayak criticized it as undermining state governance.
