Union Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal emphasized his close ties with Uttar Pradesh, addressing party workers in Lucknow on Sunday. During the gathering, Goyal announced Union Minister Pankaj Chaudhary as the new president of Uttar Pradesh BJP, marking a significant leadership change in the state.
Reflecting on the 2017 assembly elections, Goyal recounted a pivotal moment when Amit Shah informed Yogi Adityanath to assume command of UP at Goyal's New Delhi residence. Adityanath, then a Lok Sabha MP, was appointed as chief minister following BJP's victory in the assembly polls.
Goyal also honored Lucknow as the 'karmabhoomi' of former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, noting its political importance and its substantial contribution to the central government with the highest number of MPs.
