On Tuesday, Tripura Governor Indrasena Nallu Reddy paid homage to the Indian soldiers who sacrificed their lives in the 1971 India-Pakistan War. The ceremony took place at the Albert Ekka War Memorial in West Tripura on the occasion of 'Vijay Diwas' which signifies the defeat of Pakistani forces and the formation of Bangladesh.
During the event, Governor Reddy highlighted the pivotal role played by Indira Gandhi, the then Prime Minister, in supporting East Pakistan's refugees and the people of Bangladesh against oppression. He expressed deep appreciation for the soldiers' sacrifices, which he noted are enshrined in military history's golden record.
While addressing questions on Bangladesh's current political scenario, Governor Reddy refrained from detailed comments, remarking on the temporariness of the situation and the importance of maintaining cordial relations with neighbors. The event was also attended by DGP Anurag Dhankar, senior Army officials, and Chief Minister Manik Saha, who conveyed his heartfelt respects to the war heroes on social media.
