In Jammu and Kashmir, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) staged a protest against the National Conference government, accusing it of failure on multiple governance fronts. Demonstrators, led by PDP's Jammu general secretary Rajinder Singh Manhas, demanded the resignation of Chief Minister Omar Abdullah following unfulfilled electoral promises and governance issues.
The criticism extended to the Jammu and Kashmir Sports Council amid allegations of bias in team selections for the Santosh Trophy, seen as a means to deflect attention from larger public grievances. Manhas claims the administration lacks control and accountability, with officials engaging in a blame game rather than addressing core issues.
Central to PDP's grievances are unfulfilled pledges such as free electricity, employment creation, and welfare measures. Manhas emphasized that these unkept promises have led to widespread public dissatisfaction, exacerbating longstanding developmental and healthcare challenges within the region.
