In a notable political development, Pradnya Satav, a prominent Congress leader, has officially resigned from her position as a Member of the Legislative Council (MLC) in Maharashtra. Her decision comes well ahead of her term's scheduled conclusion in 2030.

According to sources, Satav, who is the widow of the late Rajiv Satav and held close ties with Lok Sabha Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi, may be gearing up to join the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). This potential party switch could have considerable political ramifications.

Satav submitted her resignation on Thursday morning to the legislature secretariat, after a conversation with Legislative Council Chairman Ram Shinde. Her departure during local elections is perceived as a significant setback for the Congress party.
