In a significant political shift, leaders from the Kerala unit of Janata Dal (Secular) are planning to merge with a newly formed party, the Indian Socialist Janata Dal (ISJD). This development arises due to tensions over the national committee's alliances, particularly with the BJP in Karnataka.
The JD(S) national president, former Prime Minister H D Deve Gowda, announced that the national leadership is monitoring the situation in Kerala. He repeatedly emphasized that no faction within Kerala has been authorized to hold meetings independently under the JD(S) banner, deeming any such gatherings void.
The anticipated declaration about the merger is expected to follow a key meeting set to take place in Kochi. With Assembly elections on the horizon, the course chosen by the JD(S) Kerala leaders could significantly impact the local political landscape.
