Tragedy Strikes in Fribourg: Bus Fire Claims Six Lives

At least six people lost their lives in a devastating bus fire that erupted in the small town of Kerzers, western Switzerland, on Tuesday. Initial investigations suggest the blaze may have been deliberately started by a person who reportedly set themselves on fire, according to local police.

Frederic Papaux, a spokesperson for Fribourg police, revealed that evidence points to a potential intentional act by an individual on board the bus. Meanwhile, Christa Bielmann, another police spokesperson, confirmed reports that a person poured fuel over themselves. It remains uncertain if the incident is linked to terrorism, she stated at a press briefing.

The incident resulted in three people being hospitalized, while two others received medical attention but did not require hospitalization. Witnesses recounted scenes of panic as passengers fled the burning vehicle. Swiss President Guy Parmelin expressed his condolences, noting the investigation is ongoing.
