The Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) has raised the alarm over potential biases within the Election Commission as the country approaches its general elections on February 12. At a press briefing, BNP secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir urged the Commission to maintain complete impartiality.
Alamgir cited unresolved issues such as the handling of postal ballots and alleged advantages being given to a particular party, which he urged the Commission to address. He also highlighted potential privacy violations as political activists collect personal information, urging action against these practices.
Chief Election Commissioner AMM Nasir Uddin, responding to these allegations, emphasized that the Commission operates without bias and has made its decisions after thorough analysis. He called for cooperation from all stakeholders to maintain the integrity of the upcoming election.
