Impact of US Tariff Policy on Indian Agriculture: Concerns Raised by Sharad Pawar
Sharad Pawar

Sharad Pawar, the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) chief and former Union agriculture minister, has voiced his concerns over the new U.S. tariff policy. The policy permits agricultural exports to India, raising alarms for Indian farmers who may face increased competition.

Pawar noted that while an official picture of the India-U.S. trade deal is expected in the coming days, he is apprehensive about its impact on local agriculture. This development follows the earlier 50 per cent tariffs imposed by the U.S. on India.

Amidst a family tragedy, Pawar discussed the recent Union Budget, expressing relief that it avoided measures harmful to the common populace, though he anticipated more development-focused actions.
