Sukhbir Singh Badal, president of the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD), declared his party's commitment to stopping Punjab's river waters from reaching Rajasthan by diverting them for local irrigation if they assume power in 2027. Addressing supporters at a rally in Amarkot grain market, Badal accused the Congress of compromising Punjab's water rights by favoring Rajasthan.
Badal criticized Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, alleging corruption linked to land purchases in Australia, which, according to Badal, influenced Mann's stance on water disputes. The SAD leader also promised to curb gangster culture and the drug mafia by implementing stiffer bail laws and auctioning criminal assets.
Vowing comprehensive welfare initiatives, Badal pledged to reinstate the atta-dal scheme, supply tubewell connections swiftly, offer significant youth employment opportunities, and deliver infrastructure enhancements. He condemned the AAP government for questionable land deals, promising to annul such transactions and hold accountability for involved officials. SAD leader Bikram Singh Majithia echoed the need for better governance to address farmers' concerns.
