Congress MP Priyanka Gandhi Vadra launched a vehement critique against the Bharatiya Janata Party at a public gathering in Guwahati, targeting the party's alleged failures in combating unemployment and addressing crimes against women in BJP-ruled states.
She accused the BJP of distributing monetary incentives to women before elections without ensuring their safety or fostering sustainable employment opportunities. Gandhi questioned whether women have received adequate security or financial independence over the past five years, amid rising crimes. She remarked, "Are young people getting jobs here?... Crime is on the rise here. How many women were given jobs in those five years?"
Gandhi further alleged the BJP misused state resources and welfare schemes for electoral advantages, compromising long-term development. She released a 20-point chargesheet against the Himanta Biswa Sarma-led Assam government, underscoring the Congress party's readiness for an electoral battle. APCC President Gaurav Gogoi emphasized the Congress's commitment to understanding Assamese public sentiment, signaling a strategic approach to upcoming Assembly elections.
