In a fiery address on Sunday, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee called for the resignation of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. She cited alleged arbitrary voter deletions by the Election Commission during the Special Summary Revision (SIR) as the basis for her demand.
Banerjee also questioned the sudden resignations of political figures like Governor C V Ananda Bose and Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar. Bose resigned abruptly on March 5, while Dhankhar stepped down last July, raising suspicions and prompting Banerjee to call for an inquiry into these issues.
Addressing a gathering at a protest in central Kolkata, Banerjee argued that if Modi became Prime Minister based on the current voter list, all citizens listed should retain their voting rights. Her remarks have intensified political tensions in the poll-bound state of West Bengal.
