The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is set to spotlight the alleged 'insult' to President Droupadi Murmu during its electoral campaign in West Bengal, focusing specifically on tribal and Santhal-majority areas. According to BJP leader Rahul Sinha, the incident will be a key theme in the ongoing 'Parivartan Yatra', as the party criticizes the state government's perceived disrespect towards the President.
Sinha targeted Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, accusing her administration of protocol violations during Murmu's recent visit, branding the incident as disrespectful to the tribal communities. By leveraging the legacy of tribal leaders, Sinha emphasized that the tribes, including the descendants of Birsa Munda and Sidhu-Kanhu, are likely to react vehemently.
The BJP aims to strengthen its base among tribal voters in districts such as Bankura, Purulia, Jhargram, and parts of Paschim Medinipur, with grassroots-level engagement planned. Meanwhile, the ruling Trinamool Congress (TMC) dismissed the allegations, accusing the BJP of using the President's name for electoral propaganda.
