Tensions in West Bengal escalated as TMC leaders Kunal Ghosh and Shashi Panja staged a protest at Khudiram Anushilan Kendra on Thursday. The duo alleged electoral mismanagement and accused the BJP of colluding with the Election Commission in tampering with Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) and ballot papers.
The protest unfolded after the second phase of polling on Wednesday, during which EVMs were stored at the facility. TMC claimed that party workers were informed via email about the reopening of the strongrooms without prior notification, sparking suspicions of procedural lapses.
The Election Commission refuted these allegations, asserting that all security protocols were adhered to and that there was no irregularity in handling the polled materials. Despite tensions, a large police contingent ensured calm was restored.
