In a heated exchange during the ongoing West Bengal assembly polls, BJP leader Tapas Roy fired back at the Trinamool Congress (TMC) for alleging that the BJP, in alliance with the Election Commission, is tampering with ballot procedures. Roy dismissed the accusations, suggesting that TMC is laying the groundwork for conceding defeat.
The controversy took center stage at the Netaji Indoor Stadium where TMC leaders Kunal Ghosh and Shashi Panja staged a demonstration. Roy assured the media of stringent security measures, labeling TMC's claims as baseless rumors designed to sway public sentiment.
Shashi Panja accused the BJP of disrupting peaceful protests, while Kunal Ghosh criticized the alleged undue access given to BJP associates. The TMC upped the ante by labeling these actions a 'murder of democracy,' showcasing supposed footage of electoral malpractice. This adds a dramatic twist ahead of the result announcement scheduled for May 4, with a recent 92.67% voter turnout in the state.
