CPI MP P Sandosh Kumar has slammed Foreign Minister S Jaishankar's statement in the Rajya Sabha regarding the unrest in West Asia, calling it "hollow and evasive." Kumar accused the government of neglecting crucial diplomatic issues, notably failing to even mention the assassination of Iran's Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.

Kumar criticized the absence of any substantial discussion concerning the sinking of Iranian naval ship IRIS Dena by a US submarine, a tragic incident that claimed numerous lives and involved a ship returning from an Indian-hosted naval exercise. He claimed that New Delhi has not adequately defended or condemned this act.

Accusing the BJP-led government of misleading the public, Kumar said the current administration has been unable to clearly address the potential fallout of the situation, particularly its implications on energy security, trade, and the safety of Indian workers in the Gulf. He highlighted growing fuel costs and market instability, demanding more precise policy responses rather than mere platitudes.
