U.S. President Donald Trump voiced his disappointment on Monday regarding Iran's decision to appoint Mojtaba Khamenei as the new supreme leader of the country, following the assassination of his father, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.

During a press conference in Florida, Trump mentioned that this leadership change is likely to maintain the status quo of problems within Iran, implying that no substantial reform is anticipated under Mojtaba Khamenei's guidance.

When reporters questioned whether the new leader faced any imminent threats, Trump declined to provide an answer, stating it would be "inappropriate" to discuss if Mojtaba Khamenei has a "target on his back."
