Union Minister Suresh Gopi addressed the adherence to protocol at Prime Minister Narendra Modi's recent event in Kochi, clarifying why select individuals appeared on stage, in line with the Blue Book protocol. This emerged amidst questioning over Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan's absence from the event due to PWD Minister P A Muhammad Riyas not being invited.
Gopi highlighted the Special Protection Group's strictures on stage presence, defending the central government's preparations. Deflecting criticisms, he emphasized similar strictures applied even to himself, noting past occurrences involving Union Home Minister Amit Shah. He refuted any political motives or controversies, affirming standard security procedures as routine practice.
The minister also commented on political developments in Kerala, including CPI(M) leader G Sudhakaran's potential independent electoral candidacy. Gopi refrained from predicting BJP's stance on Sudhakaran, acknowledging personal support without partisan influence. Discussions regarding expelled CPI MLA C C Mukundan's future affiliations were acknowledged as ongoing and personal decisions.
