In a show of unwavering allegiance, Rengali MLA Sudarshan Haripal has been praised by the BJD for rejecting a significant bribery offer. Haripal, a first-time legislator, turned down Rs 15 crore meant to sway his vote against his own party in the Rajya Sabha elections.
During a press conference at party headquarters, BJD's Pramila Mallik and other leaders lauded Haripal's refusal to compromise his principles. His decision was highlighted as a reflection of his dedication to the ideology of the party's founder, Biju Patnaik.
Simultaneously, the party leaders expressed their disappointment with eight other MLAs who chose to cross-vote, aligning themselves with an independent candidate supported by BJP, and accused them of betraying both Naveen Patnaik and the party.
