The Election Commission has initiated a significant reshuffle in poll-bound West Bengal to ensure smooth and fair elections. Thirteen IAS officers have been appointed as district magistrates-cum-district election officers to oversee poll management and supervision. This strategic redeployment includes Jitin Yadav in Cooch Behar and Sandeep Ghosh in Jalpaiguri, among others.
Simultaneously, five senior IPS officers have been reassigned as deputy inspectors general to enhance law and order. Officers like Rathod Amitkumar Bharat as DIG of Raiganj Range and Ajeet Singh Yadav as DIG of Murshidabad will closely monitor security during the election process.
The reshuffle follows the announcement of the election schedule and involves strict implementation guidelines. With polling on April 23 and 29, the commission emphasizes transparency and impartiality, further evidenced by the recent high-profile transfers of Chief Secretary Nandini Chakravorty and other key officials.
