Weeks following his resignation as Kolkata's Mayor, TMC MLA Firhad Hakim expressed approval of Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari's development initiatives, emphasizing collaboration with the BJP. His comments arise amidst rising dissent in the Trinamool Congress, where a faction of 20 Lok Sabha MPs seeks alignment with the Nationalist Citizens Party of India (NCPI).

In an interview with ANI during a program attended by CM Adhikari, Hakim stressed the necessity to transcend party politics for progress. He praised the Chief Minister's focus on development, expressing optimism that collaborative efforts could lead to substantial growth in Kolkata and Bengal.

Amid speculations about sharing his mayoral experience with the new BJP-led administration, Hakim reiterated his commitment to development. Meanwhile, internal political tensions rise within the Trinamool Congress, as 58 MLAs and 20 MPs declare rebellion. Three Rajya Sabha MPs have resigned, and efforts to merge with NCPI continue.

Previously, a split within the party's Lok Sabha camp occurred when 20 dissident MPs formally requested to join NCPI, a move currently under Speaker Om Birla's review. Birla's decision on acknowledging the rebel TMC MPs will be made following consultations with both party factions, expected after a scheduled meeting with the official party leadership.
