BJP Announces Candidates for Karnataka By-Elections Amid Rising Political Tension

The BJP has announced its candidates for the Assembly bypolls in Karnataka's Bagalkote and Davangere South constituencies. Veerabhadrayya Charantimath will contest from Bagalkote, while Srinivas T Dasakariyappa is fielded for Davangere South. These by-elections follow the vacancies due to the deaths of Congress MLAs Shamanur Shivashankarappa and H Y Meti.

The BJP revealed its candidates for the upcoming Assembly bypolls in Karnataka's Bagalkote and Davangere South, necessitated by the deaths of sitting Congress MLAs. Veerabhadrayya Charantimath is set to contest from Bagalkote, while Srinivas T Dasakariyappa will represent Davangere South.

After deliberations, the Central Election Committee, chaired by Nitin Nabin and including prominent leaders like Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, and Home Minister Amit Shah, finalized the candidates. This move comes amidst a flurry of political activity in Karnataka.

Meanwhile, the Congress party has yet to announce its candidates. In response, the families of the late MLAs, Shamanur Shivashankarappa and H Y Meti, are lobbying for continued representation, demanding tickets for family members, including Mallikarjun, Umesh, and Mahadev, from Bagalkote and Samarth Shamanur from Davangere South.
