Justice N Santosh Hegde, the former Lokayukta of Karnataka, experienced a health scare during a public event in the city this Friday. The 85-year-old ex-Supreme Court judge collapsed unexpectedly at a felicitation ceremony for former minister P G R Sindhia, held at Kondajji Basappa Auditorium.

Amid his address at the event, Hegde showed signs of fatigue, eventually sitting down. He subsequently felt dizzy, vomited, and collapsed, according to Dr Ramesh Babu, who was present and administered initial treatment. Despite efforts to stabilize him, improvement was not seen on-site, necessitating further medical attention.

In a swift move, Hegde was transported to a private hospital in the vehicle of Legislative Assembly Speaker U T Khader. Medical professionals later indicated a potential sudden drop in blood sugar was the cause. Hegde remains under medical supervision at Manipal Hospital, but reports suggest he is stable and expected to be discharged soon.
