DMK leader Dayanidhi Maran has accused the BJP-led central government of leveraging the women's reservation amendment bill as a tactical maneuver to curtail the rights of southern states through delimitation. He criticized BJP's presence in Tamil Nadu as negligible and disapproved of the efforts to infringe on state rights.
Maran urged Tamil Nadu residents to display black flags in protest against the delimitation plans and BJP's broader political strategies. The protest is to express dissent against what Maran sees as Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah's undemocratic practices.
The Lok Sabha will consider 'Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam' or the Women's Reservation Act amendments, mandating 33% reservation for women, during an upcoming parliament session. The proposal includes increasing the number of Lok Sabha seats to 850, based on the latest census, aiming for implementation by 2029.
