Nepal's Minister for Foreign Affairs, Shisir Khanal, revealed that Prime Minister Balendra Shah's prospective visit to India is pending consultations between the respective foreign ministries. The visit remains in the planning phase following an invitation from Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Khanal emphasized the routine nature of high-level diplomatic exchanges but clarified that the finalization of dates and details awaits these crucial inter-ministerial discussions. His statements followed his return from Mauritius, where he participated in the 9th Indian Ocean Conference.

In conversations with India's Minister for External Affairs, S Jaishankar, Khanal stressed the necessity for active technical preparations. With 40 bi-national mechanisms in place, many inactive, their reactivation remains a priority to ensure a smooth commencement of an official visit.
