Colombian President Gustavo Petro announced his upcoming visit to Caracas on April 24, aiming to meet Venezuela's interim president, Delcy Rodriguez. This initiative follows a previously aborted meeting due to security issues.

In a Friday interview with RTVE, Petro clarified that an earlier attempt to meet Rodriguez at the border was scrapped amid security concerns. He emphasized the continued importance of engaging with Venezuela to foster diplomatic relations.

While attending Barcelona's 'Global Progressive Mobilisation', Petro highlighted the need to mobilize global leftist movements against the far right, coining this trip to Caracas as a significant diplomatic endeavor amid heightened tensions in the region.
