NDA Leaders Gather Amidst Defeat of Women's Reservation Bill in Lok Sabha

A crucial meeting of NDA floor leaders took place in Parliament on Friday. The session came in the wake of the Lok Sabha's failure to pass the Women's Reservation Bill, which did not secure the necessary two-thirds majority. This has influenced the decision not to pursue two additional bills further.

On Friday, a pivotal gathering of NDA floor leaders convened in Parliament, attended by senior alliance figures including Union Ministers J.P. Nadda, Kiren Rijiju, and BJP National President Nitin Nabin.

The meeting gains significance following the contentious voting in the Lok Sabha, where the Women's Reservation Bill was defeated, unable to secure the requisite two-thirds majority. Speaker Om Birla announced the tally: 298 in favor, 230 against.

Constitution Amendment Bill discussions were at the forefront, focusing on women's representation for upcoming elections. However, with its defeat, the government decided not to advance the Union Territories Laws and Delimitation Bills, confirmed by Minister Kiren Rijiju.
