Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath paid homage to former Chief Minister Hemwati Nandan Bahuguna on his birth anniversary on Saturday, acknowledging his impactful political legacy. The event, held in Lucknow, was attended by Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak and other dignitaries who gathered at Bahuguna's statue.
In a statement on social media, Adityanath praised Bahuguna as a significant figure in Indian politics, whose service as both the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh and various central government ministries continues to inspire. Adityanath emphasized that Bahuguna's vision for development is now taking shape in Uttar Pradesh.
Hemwati Nandan Bahuguna, born in 1919 in Pauri Garhwal, served as Uttar Pradesh's Chief Minister from 1973 to 1975 in a Congress-led government. A key figure in the freedom movement, his legacy in politics extends through his children, Vijay Bahuguna and Rita Bahuguna Joshi, who have both been active in Indian politics.
