A Surge in Wealth: Subhankar Sarkar's Astonishing Financial Growth

Subhankar Sarkar, Congress candidate from Srerampore, Hooghly, has seen his assets soar from Rs 4.35 crore in 2016 to Rs 14.4 crore in 2023, with his liabilities also increasing substantially during this period.

Subhankar Sarkar, a Congress candidate running for the West Bengal Assembly elections, has disclosed assets totaling Rs 14.4 crore in his nomination papers. An analysis reveals that Sarkar's wealth has more than tripled from Rs 4.35 crore in 2016.

Since contesting from Noapara in the 2021 polls, Sarkar's assets have jumped by nearly 94 percent overall, and around 231 percent since 2016. His liabilities have also surged, growing from Rs 21.85 lakh in 2016 to Rs 83.2 lakh currently, marking significant financial changes.

The 66-year-old candidate's latest affidavit shows him as a graduate with no criminal record, reflecting a steady rise in personal wealth through successive electoral periods, although the reasons for this spike remain undisclosed.
