Putting long-standing speculations to rest, Manesar Mayor Inderjeet Kaur Yadav, along with nine councillors, joined the Bharatiya Janata Party at an event in Haryana's Rewari on Wednesday. The move commenced under the guidance of Union Minister of State and Gurugram MP Rao Inderjit Singh. State BJP president Mohan Lal Badoli presented a turban to the mayor and inducted her into the party. Several senior party leaders, including Pataudi MLA Bimla Chaudhary, were present. In the first mayoral election after the formation of the Manesar Municipal Corporation, Inderjeet Kaur Yadav contested as an independent candidate. She won the March 2025 election, defeating BJP candidate Sunder Lal Sarpanch. After winning the mayoral election, Yadav expressed her desire to join the BJP, but this was met with considerable resistance within the saffron party due to factionalism between Union Minister of State Rao Inderjit Singh and state Cabinet Minister Rao Narbir Singh. As Sundar Lal belonged to Rao Narbir's faction, they wanted to prevent Yadav's entry into the party. At the same time, Rao Inderjit Singh also exerted all his strength to get Yadav to join the BJP. The Manesar mayor was always at the forefront of all of Rao Inderjit Singh's events. His daughter, Haryana Health Minister Aarti Rao, inaugurated the mayor's office. A controversy had erupted during an administrative action in Manesar, in which Yadav levelled serious allegations against Rao Narbir Singh for framing her husband as part of a political conspiracy. However, the matter was settled later.
