Agnimitra Paul, the incumbent BJP legislator, has taken a commanding lead in the Asansol Dakshin constituency during the ongoing elections in West Bengal. With a margin of 10,509 votes in the initial stages, she appears poised to maintain her seat.
As of the third round of counting, Paul has reportedly secured 25,544 votes, whereas her primary opponent, Tapas Banerjee from the TMC, has managed to gather 15,035 votes. The Election Commission confirms these figures, which currently place Paul ahead.
Paul expressed confidence in the BJP's growing influence by describing the current scenario as a 'BJP tsunami' in West Bengal. The final results will be based on 15 rounds of counting in total.
