Electoral Battle Heats Up in Bagalkot and Davanagere South

In Karnataka's Bagalkot and Davanagere South, Congress and BJP candidates are showing strong leads in the ongoing vote count for bypolls held after the deaths of key Congress MLAs. Umesh Meti of Congress is leading at Bagalkot, while BJP's Srinivas T Dasakariyappa is ahead in Davanagere South.

Karnataka's electoral landscape in Bagalkot and Davanagere South is giving rise to a heated contest between the Congress and BJP. The bypolls, conducted on April 9, are seeing a steady lead for Congress at Bagalkot and BJP at Davanagere South as vote counting progresses.

The necessity for the polls arose following the unfortunate demise of senior Congress MLAs H Y Meti from Bagalkot and Shamanur Shivashankarappa from Davanagere South. In Bagalkot, Umesh Meti, representing Congress, is leading the pursuit with a margin of 9,969 votes against BJP opponent Veerabhadrayya Charantimath.

Meanwhile, in Davanagere South, the BJP's Srinivas T Dasakariyappa is maintaining a lead of 8,539 votes over Congress's Samarth Mallikarjun. Bagalkot saw nine candidates vying for the seat, while Davanagere South fielded 25 contenders, highlighting the fierce competition in these political heats.
