Humayun Kabir, the chief of the Aam Janata Unnayan Party, is shaping the political landscape in West Bengal as he leads in both the Nowda and Rejinagar seats within Murshidabad district. Counting is ongoing, but Kabir maintains a significant advantage over his rivals.
Kabir's political journey took a dramatic turn following his suspension from the Trinamool Congress (TMC). The controversy surrounded his proposal to construct a mosque reminiscent of the Babri Masjid in Murshidabad district. Despite these challenges, Kabir has found an outpouring of support, evidenced by his lead of 8,212 votes in Nowda and 20,053 votes in Rejinagar after several rounds of counting.
Addressing his supporters, Kabir expressed gratitude for the backing from Murshidabad's residents, who, he suggests, saw through the perceived injustices by the Mamata Banerjee government. Although only founded four months ago, Kabir's party has ambitions of winning at least four seats, hinting at a potential influence in the formation of Bengal's new government.
