In a significant political development, senior Congress leader Ramesh Chennithala emerged victorious in the Haripad Assembly seat, according to the Election Commission (EC). The EC's figures revealed that Chennithala achieved a commanding lead over his nearest competitor from the CPI, T T Jismon, by a margin of 23,377 votes.
Chennithala's victory was marked by his securing 68,184 votes, equivalent to 47.08% of the total votes in the constituency. The result boosts his chances in the race for the post of Kerala Chief Minister. This electoral success follows his previous wins in 2021 and 2016, where he maintained strong percentages of the votes, demonstrating his consistent popularity.
The increased vote margin from 13,666 in 2021 and 18,605 in 2016 illustrates a growing support base for Chennithala. His performance in Haripad sets the stage for potential leadership roles and outlines his influence within Kerala's political landscape.
