Sunetra Pawar, the NCP president and Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister, achieved a significant electoral win in the Baramati assembly by-election, bagging a victory margin of 2,18,034 votes. According to the Election Commission, her win set a new national precedent, surpassing Sunil Kumar Sharma's previous record from the 2022 elections.

The by-election, held on April 23, was necessitated by the tragic passing of her husband Ajit Pawar in a plane crash earlier this year. Riding on a wave of sympathy and support, Pawar managed to not only maintain but expand upon her late husband’s victory margin from prior elections.

Expressing gratitude, Sunetra Pawar emphasized her commitment to fulfilling Ajit Pawar's vision for Baramati, acknowledging the immense trust placed in her by voters. She also called for responsible celebrations and assured constituents of her continued dedication to the community’s development.
