In a dramatic turn of events, the Trinamool Congress (TMC) general secretary, Abhishek Banerjee, declared the formation of a fact-finding committee to probe alleged irregularities with Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) during the recent assembly elections in West Bengal.
Banerjee raised alarm over potential EVM swapping, citing mismatched serial numbers that didn't align with official records. He expressed concerns that machines reportedly used for extended periods still showed nearly full charge, sparking questions and demanding further scrutiny.
Further adding to the tension, Banerjee accused the BJP of orchestrating a manufactured lead. He criticized the absence of state government representatives, attributing hegemony to central government employees at counting centers, and highlighted discrepancies likely influencing the final results.
