Akhilesh Yadav, the Samajwadi Party president, has raised concerns over the fairness of the recent West Bengal Assembly polls, demanding that the Supreme Court examine the electoral process. According to Yadav, video footage of the vote counting should be made publicly available to ensure transparency.
Addressing a press conference, Yadav questioned the lack of live CCTV coverage during the vote counting, pointing out similar discrepancies in past Uttar Pradesh elections. He warned that the situation observed in West Bengal could occur on a larger scale in Uttar Pradesh, which is set to hold assembly elections next year.
Yadav's comments come after the BJP's decisive victory over Mamata Banerjee's Trinamool Congress in West Bengal. Despite his support for Banerjee during the election, Yadav remains critical of the electoral process and intends to visit West Bengal to further assess the situation.
