BJP's Historic Sweep in SC/ST Seats Marks New Political Era

The BJP and its allies achieved significant victories in assembly polls, sweeping reserved SC/ST seats in Assam and West Bengal. In a landmark political shift, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has emerged victorious in reserved constituencies for Scheduled Castes (SC) and Scheduled Tribes (ST) across Assam and West Bengal, according to assembly poll results announced on Monday. This sweeping victory marks a considerable consolidation of political support for the BJP and its allies.

The BJP clinched 75% of SC reserved seats and all 16 ST seats in West Bengal, establishing a formidable presence in these regions. In Assam, the party secured five out of nine SC reserved seats and 13 out of 19 ST reserved seats. The National Democratic Alliance (NDA), led by the BJP, showed dominant performance, winning 19 seats through alliances with regional parties.

Political analysts suggest this trend signifies a decisive realignment among SC and ST voters, bolstering the BJP-led NDA's influence. The increased weight of indigenous and tribal seats due to delimitation has further solidified this shift. Observers note that the BJP's strategic partnerships in Upper Assam and other regions contributed to their success in these reserved constituencies.
