Tensions intensified in Uttar Pradesh as an FIR was registered against Samajwadi Party leader Rajesh Singh for allegedly making inflammatory remarks against Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath.

The complaint was lodged on Monday by BJP leader Chandra Prakash Yadav after a public meeting supporting SP candidate Avadhesh Singh in Fazilnagar Nagar. Singh's comments reportedly offended adherents of the Gorakshapeeth, to which Adityanath is linked.

Authorities are examining video footage and other evidence as part of the ongoing investigation, according to the Patheorwa Station House Officer Dhirendra Rai.
