Historic Win: Philip Davis Re-Elected in Bahamas

Bahamian Prime Minister Philip Davis and the ruling Progressive Liberal Party secured a second consecutive term, a first in 30 years. Davis highlighted the mandate as a drive to advance opportunities and strengthen national security.

The election was called earlier than scheduled to preemptively address the Atlantic hurricane season. In 2021, Davis became Prime Minister following an early election. The PLP now aims to maintain leadership with potentially over 30 seats in parliament.

Key figures in the opposition, including Rick Fox and Dr. Hubert Minnis, failed to win their respective seats. The election foregrounds issues such as housing affordability, driving government efforts to increase public spending and remove taxes on essential goods.
