Amid political stirrings in Kerala, Congress General Secretary Deepa Dasmunsi assured unity in the party. She addressed lingering rumors about discord among senior leaders over the party's choice of V D Satheesan as the new Chief Ministerial face.

Dasmunsi clarified that all leaders, including Ramesh Chennithala and K C Venugopal, had authorized the high command to decide the leadership, and hence, stood by the decision. Claims of dissent and silent protests were debunked as unfounded.

Venugopal pledged his support to Satheesan and the UDF government, as the Congress consolidated its leadership, overcoming grassroots level protests and internal lobbying to secure a strong majority in the Kerala Assembly elections.
