Kerala's Chief Minister-designate, V D Satheesan, on Friday, defended the Indian Union Muslim League (IUML), a pivotal Congress ally, amidst ongoing allegations of communal inclination. The Congress leader commended IUML for its decisive involvement in the alliance's victory and its strong opposition to communal forces in the state.
Satheesan responded to criticisms by accusing the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of fostering division through hate campaigns at both state and national levels. He warned that weakening IUML would leave a vacuum that communal forces might exploit, emphasizing IUML's role in preventing such risks.
The CM-designate reaffirmed the United Democratic Front's (UDF) unwavering commitment to secularism, stating there would be no compromise on this front, regardless of pressure. Meanwhile, discussions within UDF leadership regarding cabinet formation are underway, indicating a collaborative approach to governing.
