Political Firestorm Erupts Over Fuel Price Hike Post-Elections

Congress leaders launched a scathing attack on the Narendra Modi government following a recent hike in petrol and diesel prices. Leaders alleged the price increase was strategically delayed until the assembly elections concluded.

Rajasthan Congress president Govind Singh Dotasra criticized the Prime Minister's international visits amid the fuel crisis, implying neglect of domestic concerns. Dotasra said, 'The 'mehngai man' embarks on international contemplation, burdening citizens with higher fuel costs.'

Former deputy chief minister Sachin Pilot echoed these sentiments, accusing the government of prioritizing votes over economic relief. 'Petrol and diesel prices were kept unchanged during elections to sway voters,' Pilot alleged. The price hike, Rs 3 per litre, came immediately after the elections in five states.
