A former Rajasthan minister was booked for allegedly threatening a municipality official in connection with an investigation into an encroachment and lease case of his worker, police said on Tuesday.

Based on the complaint filed by Hindoli Executive Officer (EO) Jitendra Kumar Meena of being threatened by the former minister on the phone, the police registered a case against Congress MLA from Hindoli Ashok Chandna on Monday evening, Circle Inspector Mukesh Yadav said.

The police registered a case of using force to deter a public servant from discharge of duty under Section 132 and criminal intimidation under Section 351(2) of the BNS and Sections of the SC/ST Act against the MLA and handed over the investigation to CID-CB for further investigation, Yadav said.

The case against MLA came a few days after a 1.15-minute video of the MLA threatening the EO on the phone went viral. However, the incident occurred over a month ago on April 13 during MLA's Jansunwai, police said.

In the complaint, the EO alleged that Chandna threatened him on the phone to dig him up and to thrash him chasing and to cause intense agonising for an apology, he added.

The incident occurred on April 13 when he received repeated messages to call Chandna, and when he called him, the MLA said, ''If a single stone of my worker's wall falls down, I'll dig you up. You'll suffer and hold to his feet, only then will I forgive you,'' the EO alleged in the complaint.

The entire matter was related to the ongoing investigation of the leases and encroachment on a parcel of land by one Omprakash.
