Claiming that the TVK government led by Chief Minister C Joseph Vijay would complete its full five-year term, Congress leader and Higher Education Minister P Viswanathan on Thursday said his party would fully support the dispensation in Tamil Nadu.

The Indian National Congress, which has five MLAs in the Assembly, supported the TVK during the floor test.

After taking oath as a minister at Lok Bhavan, Viswanathan, along with Tourism Minister Rajesh Kumar S, visited the Congress headquarters to meet Tamil Nadu Congress Committee president K Selvaperunthagai and seek his blessings.

''The Congress party will extend its complete support to every scheme and initiative undertaken by the CM,'' Viswanathan told reporters.

Viswanathan also thanked senior Congress leader Girish Chodankar, the All India Congress Committee (AICC) in-charge for Tamil Nadu, for facilitating the party's participation in the coalition government.

''Many observers, general secretaries and secretaries have come and gone. But it is Girish Chodankar who played a key role in enabling us to be part of the coalition government in Tamil Nadu,'' he said.

''Our objective is to provide honest politics to the people, following the ideals of leaders such as K Kamaraj and P Kakkan. We are committed to delivering such honest governance,'' he added.

Replying to a question on the medical entrance examination NEET, the minister said: ''Our leader, Rahul Gandhi, has urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to exempt Tamil Nadu from NEET. I also support this demand. Tamil Nadu does not need NEET.''
