Strengthening Ties: China and Pakistan Forge a Shared Future
Pakistan and China have reaffirmed their commitment to developing bilateral relations, emphasizing collaboration for a shared future. During Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif's visit, both nations signed cooperation documents, discussed strategic partnerships, and stressed mutual support in international matters, defense, and Belt and Road initiatives. The visit also commemorated 75 years of diplomatic relations.
In a significant diplomatic move, Pakistan and China have decided to fortify their bilateral relations, focusing on building a shared future. This decision was highlighted in a joint statement following Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif's official visit to China from May 23-26, invited by Premier Li Qiang.
During the visit, the two countries signed numerous cooperation documents covering various fields. Notably, President Xi Jinping and Premier Li Qiang engaged in discussions with Prime Minister Sharif, leading to consensus on deepening the China-Pakistan All-Weather Strategic Cooperative Partnership and addressing international and regional issues collaboratively.
The discussions also reaffirmed mutual support for sovereignty and territorial integrity, with a focus on enhanced cooperation in defense, security, and the Belt and Road initiative. China and Pakistan expressed a readiness to involve third parties in the development of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) and reiterated their commitment to counter-terrorism, regional stability, and globally beneficial economic orders.
