Sudhir Jakhar, a lawyer based in Haryana, has taken steps to formally establish the digital entity 'Cockroach Janta Party' as a political organization by filing an application with India's Election Commission. Jakhar intends to assume the role of national convener for the party.
Abhijeet Dipke, who originally created the satirical platform, is currently out of the country. Jakhar expressed his motivation to advance the movement due to the public's strong connection with it. He stated, "When people are emotionally invested, it's crucial to offer them a political platform for expression." Having been an active student leader and participant in farmers' protests, Jakhar emphasizes a commitment to democratic engagement through peaceful and lawful means.
Jakhar's application underlines CJP's focus on social accountability, community service, and environmental protection, aiming to foster transparency and responsible governance. Interestingly, the initiative has drawn recent attention after Chief Justice of India Surya Kant found himself amidst controversy over comments about 'cockroaches' related to the legal profession, which led to a clarification from the Chief Justice himself.
