Political activist Yogendra Yadav has expressed strong criticism of the Supreme Court's ruling that upheld the Election Commission's Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls. Yadav claims the decision preemptively favors the ruling BJP by allowing it to influence which citizens can participate in voting.
In a public statement, Yadav suggested the court departed from reviewing the SIR's constitutionality and instead focused on grievances, a move he argues reduces judicial independence. He fears this endorsement expands authority to revise voter lists without due constitutional scrutiny. Comparing the verdict to past controversial legal decisions, he predicted its future reversal. Yadav also voiced concerns about increasing disenfranchisement, estimating millions more could lose voting rights due to unchecked electoral revisions.
