Amidst growing speculation, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah is rumored to be planning his resignation in the coming days. This development comes after meetings with both his party colleagues and the Congress high command, hinting at a significant leadership reshuffle in Karnataka.

Siddaramaiah met with several ministers and MLAs at his residence, where he reportedly asserted to R V Deshpande, Chairperson of the Administrative Reforms Commission, 'I have decided to resign.' Despite efforts by his fellow lawmakers to dissuade him, Siddaramaiah remained unmoved, emphasizing his commitment to the party leadership.

The potential leadership change is said to be in response to instructions from the Congress high command, suggesting that Siddaramaiah may be offered a central party role, possibly including a Rajya Sabha seat. Meanwhile, intense consultations are ongoing, with a breakfast meeting at Siddaramaiah's official residence scheduled ahead of his possible resignation announcement.

Notable figures including ministers H C Mahadevappa, Zameer Ahmed Khan, and MLAs like Umesh Meti met with Siddaramaiah, although he firmly maintained his decision to adhere to his word given to the high command. This decision opens up the possibility for deputy D K Shivakumar's ascent to the chief ministership.
